Are you searching for your perfect wedding venue?

Today’s venue series inspiration is all about beautiful houses and grand country estates. You may have noticed on day one with the riverside wedding venues it was a a ‘top three’ list- that was the goal, I aimed to keep it short and punchy with three incredible venue options that we are recommended at in each post… then flood you with lots more gorgeous options in our Facebook group.

However, I soon slipped when on day two I added a fourth to the beautiful barn venue list.

And today, I’ve found it even harder to choose between the venues we are recommended at! They all have such a unique style to them. So today’s top three list had evolved to be my fave five luxury venues with history:

Danesfield House

Danesfield House is in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The sweeping drive set the scene as you approach the impressive building. These grounds, with views of the Chiltern Hills and the River Thames, combined with the stunning white architecture makes for a beautiful backdrop outside. But inside is equally as gorgeous with lots of original details- check out the Versailles room below!.

Stoke Place

Stoke Place is in Stoke Poges in Buckinghamshire. A stylish hotel with your own exclusive wing, and the lake just steps away from where you marry. The main ballroom is neutral with lots of space, for you to add any colour scheme you love. The rest of the hotel has lots of beautiful features, from fireplaces to big windows, plus lots of gorgeous furniture.

The Elvetham

The Elvetham is in Hartley Witney in Hampshire, close by to Fleet. This venue has so much history- apparently Shakespeare was inspired from his stay to write my favourite play  ‘ a midsummers night’s dream’ – I can see why! The grounds have a magical quality to them, including trees that blossom or change colour in every season, a stream, bridge, cast iron gates in ornate brickwork, fields, landscaped row of trees to make ‘the avenue’, hidden benches, ponds, a croquet lawn… even a huge oak tree planted by Queen Elizabeth I!

Greyfriars Mansion

Greyfriars Mansion is in Guildford in Surrey. Once you reach the house from the sweeping driveway, you can see the view it has from an elevated position over the Surrey hills.  It is an ‘art and crafts house’ by William Morris which meant it had the core “belief in craftsmanship which stresses the inherent beauty of the material, the importance of nature as inspiration, and the value of simplicity, utility, and beauty.” which you can certainly see the moment you arrive just from the detail on the front door in the first image!

Montagu Arms

Montagu Arms is in Beaulieu in the New Forest. I wasn’t quite sure where to put this special setting in the blog series, it is a little cosier than the places mentioned above. The oak panelling, deep seats and luxury hotel setting amongst the cute New Forest village with wandering donkeys give it a unique edge.
