“Spaghetti straps?”,  “Cropped two pieces?”
“Not so many”

My predictions for the catwalk were completely out. Last week I popped over to Sophie Grace Bridal Boutique in Wokingham to catch up over a coffee with the girls. They had SO much news on the latest trends for wedding dresses they had just seen at The London Bridal Show, not at all what I was expecting.

It is the most important buying event in the wedding dress industry– they met with new designers, saw the upcoming collections, were invited to the fashion catwalk shows… and they shopped- coming home to the boutique with an order of almost THIRTY brand new wedding dress designs.

I just knew you brides-to-be would love to hear too, so they wrote up a show visit debrief for me! Thanks ladies (p.s if there is a spare invite going for your next shopping trip…. nudge nudge!) x

Over to the team at Sophie Grace Bridal…

There were literally hundreds of new dresses on the display at Olympia. As we walked around from one wedding dress designer to another, we couldn’t miss these new trends which kept appearing:

  • The classic plain satin style is back
Plain dresses with a bling broach or a statement feature such as a big bow, belt or a back detail.
  • Continues to be an emphasis on back detailing
Detailed illusion, low cut and backless, and string of beaded straps over bare skin.
  • New bridal dress label, Grace Phillips
Her dresses that really caught our eye. They from the amazing House of Mooshki and the gowns are so beautiful! We had a lovely model trying on gowns of all designs beautiful fabrics and cool, sleek lines, to flatter any shape or size, these gowns are the ultimate in sheer elegance and Hollywood red carpet glamour and one design in particular based on a style, worn by a celeb, at the golden Globes award ceremony. Now, soon to be in our bridal shop. These gowns are the ultimate in wow factor.
  • Another super new bridal label, Emma Charlotte
They are a new exclusive bridal brand. It is classy, stylish and timeless classic. They had wide, full skirts with long trains, exciting necklines in front and back, stunning silhouettes, fine details and close fitting mermaid styles on display. They are so romantic and floaty and to us the ultimate in femininity. We just love the whole romance of them. Again, soon to be in our bridal shop.
  • Layers and adding dimension to their gowns
We particularly loved this trend in the stunning new styles from Diane Legrand. It was apparent to us that floral lace applique is still within their trend for those romantic and vintage brides. They are just effortless to wear. We are really looking forward to putting brides into them and to see how easy it is to fall in love with them.
  • Soft details that create extra movement
Last but not least, on the catwalk, the designers gravitated towards soft details that create extra movement. There was feathers, plunging necklines, 3D florals and there was a lot of latte/ mocha /taupe lace detailed dresses, tiered skirts with flowing layers of tulle details that all brides will adore
